I changed my 89 ford ranger from an auto to manual putting a 83 ford ranger 4 speed in it. Clutch tips?
crissevenfold asked:
My clutch won't release the clutch disc all the way. it has an external slave cylinder which i just replaced. i bought a used master cylinder that had a longer plunger rod than the one off the 83 from a salvage yard. i'm thinking it might be the pressure plate because it sat and got rusty for a while. all these parts haven't been used in about 10-12 years so i am replacing alot of them. i need tips though because if there is something im missing i need to know. im gonna try to adjust that swing arm's little ball joint before i pull the ****** again but im not positive it will work. what might the problem be?

the longer plunger might be to long and not letting it actuate. Did you check the fluid level under the boot in the Res. for the slave cylinder it might be low or need blead.

Clutch ball full tight. check the slave travel it needs to be a min. of 1 inch to release. the compatable parts should be replaced together due to fluid dynamics.
